The Lighthouse Pantry is a mission ministry of Morning Star which reaches out to and serves families in need throughout Doña Ana County by providing both emergency and supplemental clothing, food, and hygiene products; healthcare screenings; referral services; and other services as identified. From July 2016 through June 2017, the Lighthouse Pantry was able to serve 668 families by providing 12,729 articles of clothing and 5884 bags of food. Lighthouse Pantry is currently open to the community the first and third Tuesday of each month from 9-11 a.m. Volunteers serve in many ways including receiving, sorting, storing, and distributing clothing and food; maintaining administrative records; conducting blood pressure and blood sugar checks; and developing relationships with other community agencies. Lighthouse Pantry is also open the second Saturday of each month beginning at 9 a.m. to prepare food bags for delivery to home-bound seniors. The financial support we receive from Morning Star Church and outside grants helps Lighthouse Pantry continue to serve our neighbors. Checks for donations can be made to Morning Star UMC, indicating Lighthouse Pantry on the memo line. If you’re interested in more information or would like to volunteer, please talk with a team member or email us at email@example.com.
Genesis Missions Team

The Missions Team actively supports organizations and projects, with congregational support, for people in need in the Las Cruces area, the State of New Mexico, nationwide and worldwide. A sample of our community projects includes providing food bags and gifts for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter to needy families at a designated elementary school; identifying local schools and senior care organizations that qualify for grant assistance; and supporting NMSU Wesley Foundation. The Missions Team also funds scholarships for Morning Star youth to attend camp, and volunteers to work at various missions like Sacramento Conference Center and Gospel Rescue Mission. We support national and international projects by researching and identifying quarterly communion rail recipients. The Missions Team is very proud of how much Morning Star is able to accomplish in spreading God’s word and grace to people in need, in all walks of life. You are always welcome to connect with us and bring new ideas of where and how we can serve in Jesus’ name. Meetings are the second Tuesday of each month at 6 PM in the library (August – May).
